So I've had this Peavey Max 700 for about 4-5 years now.About 3 years ago It went down and I never bothered to fix it or anything like that since I wasnt doing too much live work.I decided last month to open up the front panel and see what was goin on in there. And I found 6 socketable IC's.I seen one of them fell off so I put it back in and it sprang to life and worked fully functional
Then I decided you know... maybe I should just buy some new socketable IC's I mean I figured what harm could it do.So I ordered them last week. And they just got here today. So I take the old ones out and install the new ones..
Now idk what the heck this did really .. but WOW.. the amps controls are infinitely more responsive. And its louder too Much much louder The gain on the amp is atleast triple what it was. I use to have to press the gain up close to max and have the Volume master knob up pretty high to get it really rockin loud. Now I get the same volume if not more with both knobs set at 2-3.Like I said I dont know exactly what this did but it made a world of difference.
sounds better.Louder and again the controls are much much more responsive.
