XR18 Aux Bus issue. What am I missing?

My XR18 is set up to run or IEM. 3 sets of stereo IEM, and the Drummer uses a P16M.

On the lead singers IEM Bus (5&6) The main bus volume slider does not impact the volume of his mix, and neither does the mute button on the 5/6 bus. All the individual channel sliders effect the mix. The other sets of stereo aux/bus pairs work fine. It must be a setting, but I can't find it. I have tried comparing the settings from the other stereo buses, but can't find a difference.

At my wits end. Any help gratefully received.

Have you tried unlinking the busses, power cycling the mixer, then re-linking 5 & 6?
If there’s no change, the other option is to save your settings and re-install the firmware.
If STILL no change, you may have a hardware error.
Let us know.

I turned off the stereo link, power cycled, tried faders and mute buttons unlinked, no change. So I have relinked them.
When I have the Bus 5/6 channel selected and on screen, as I pull the bus fader down I can see the output disappear on the display (top right), but the gain display next to the fader itself (bottom right) still shows the output not changing. Still could be either a hardware or software issue at this point, Or I am managing to send the bus signal by other means. As you can see in the pic, all the fx are muted, so it can't be that I don't think
About to head to work so will have to reinstall firmware tonight (Australia time)

Or I am managing to send the bus signal by other means.

I would hold off on a firmware reinstall until I have really, really followed all the routing. To me it sounds like routing. There are a lot of routing options and it would be easy to inadvertently mis-route. Also be sure to look at all the routing settings in the setup screens.

It's confusing because one physical fader can function a bunch of different ways. It depends on how you configure the board and what function is currently active.

For example a physical fader may fill the orange role or it may fill the red role....but only one role at a time.

For monitors, the Aux Sends are set up pre fader on the channels. This allows the orange fader to adjust the house mix without impacting the monitor mixes.

The output from the Aux buses are taken post fader. The red fader functions as an Aux Master, I.E. you can adjust the output level of the entire mix. If you take the output pre fader, then the fader does not control the level.

The individual channel faders are working for all channels on the aux bus, it is only the main Bus fader and mute that isn't controlling the overall output. Sorry if I am not understanding, just making sure we are on the same page.

Refer to my last post. The orange fader(s) are working. The red fader for Aux 5/6 are not working.

AFAK, the Menu shown here

determines whether the Mute and Fader are in the signal path, or not

Make sure the output tap point is post fader. Sound like it's pre fader?

I've watched this again (without distraction and interuption this time!) I think this is the issue. I'll have look tonight. Can't wait to get home and check to be honest, was feeling a little consumed!

This board is such a wealth of knowledge! I'll keep people posted. Thanks again

I keep one in my office and mix a few bands that own one. Ping me anytime if you have questions on your XR18.

I will do. The other change I will be making is the Ultranet to pre eq so that the gate is in the path to clean up drums in the drummers mix.
Typically it's Post EQ for sends, this would also include the gate. Pre fader would also include compressor.
The signal flow schematic that @Wasnex posted is in the Block Diagrams appendix of the mixer manual PDF.

Hope it is sorted out, great little shoebox mixer.

Thank you all for your help, in particular @Wasnex and @RyanOh as you were exactly right. I had set them up pre fader on the Bus, I thought I was doing it pre the main fader. In fact, all buses were like it. The others (including myself) have never needed to touch the Bus fader.

Extremely grateful to the collective wisdom that is on tap and willing to help on this forum.

I may still change to this - I will discuss with the drummer. Because the P16M has the ability to eq all channels itself I thought I might leave that to him. Giving him the eq might be best though.

Mine is doing the same thing!! Can you walk me through how to fix it?
