Yamaha B100 ii

I recently purchased one of these from a friend for a good price. He told me that these heads are valued for their tone and tube like warmth. Before I bought the amplifier, I played and jammed on it at that said same friends studio with a couple of friends. I have to say the sound is really nice. It’s very versatile with 2 channels. One channel has a three band eq while the other has a five band eq. The tone is quite warm and has a tube like sensitivity to the dynamics of your plucking. The aesthetic is also great as it looks like a old tube fender head from the 1970’s but with a Yamaha logo. The seller told me that these amps are sought after; what is the consensus about these heads on the forum? They seem underrated to me.

I had the combo version of that here in Oz early '80's..it has a very unique sound/tone I haven't been able to find in any other bass amp I've owned since..it developed a fault where the volume kept going down and no one in the remote town in the centre of Oz where I lived was able to fix it..so I sold it..the haed version as above is hard to get hold of from I can gather..I've never seen one for sale second hand in the last 20 odd years..grab it..you won't be disappointed..wish I could find one..the later 80's 100 III ones have that ''sound'' as well..love to know what Yamaha put in them to make them sound like that

Thank you for showing your rig! Bought my Yamaha combo about 1984. I have played many different combos and head/bottom combinations since then but always came back with appreciation to my B100. It has never required service (almost 40 years!) and effortlessly pushes the original 15” speaker. A very simple no frills, no bells piece of equipment. The combo is getting heavier as I get older. Recently pulled the head. Monster still works!

I have the guitar version of this amp in a combo unit. I un-plugged the speaker and hooked up an old 2 15 cab that I had and gigged with it for a couple of years. It's in the basement now and sometimes (just to keep it lubed up) I'll run it through one of my 8 10's. Pretty awesome really.

I just got one of these amps for a pretty good deal. I had to replace the screen and the knobs. I'm completely new to using the EQ knobs so I'm not really sure how those work and how to get them set properly. Last time we played as a band I was getting way too much overdrive sound. Any help on how you set your B100II is appreciated!

Hey man, I too have just purchased one of these lovely amps and am in need of new knobs. Can you point to me where I could find these? Cheers!
