Yamaha B1D pickup

I have a Yamaha G-50 with B1D pickup. The curve of the pickup does not match the curve of the strings on a 7.5" radius bass. The input values on E and G are in the 30-80 range, or thereabouts, but for the A to D they are more like 10-40, and there are some mistriggerings. I am still working through the options on the G-50 but does anyone have experience or advice with this ancient pickup? The 13 core cable seems to be a bit kinked and microphonic too.
