Yamaha BBP34 vs. Sandberg TT comparison (Video)

I made a short comparison between these two basses and a poll! Which one do you like?

To be honest …. I like them both. The Sandberg has more funky vibe to it. Think Larry Graham or early Prince with Brown Mark .

The Yamaha would be my choice for more pop/ rock . Think Thriller and later era Michael Jackson .

I think if forced to chose I’d go with the a Yamaha. The BB’s are great all around basses if you like the ergonomics.

Yeah I agree! Interestingly more so than the active humbucker version, even when in passive mode.

Back in my funk-playing-days 35 years ago, Sandberg would've been my pick without a doubt, which is why I ended up voting for it. Having said that, Yamaha has a lot going for it - a very convincing sound in its own right - just a different flavour I suppose.

My $0.02 only...

For fingerstyle, they were different, but I had no preference. Greatly preferred the Yamaha for slap.

Hey by the way, I just measured the where the P pickup is located compared to a P bass. It appears to be further towards the neck by about 0,5cm. This could be a big part of the BB sound compared to fender (and other) PJ basses…
