I was a very big DT fan when JM sarted endorsing Yamaha.

Maybe you could get a RBX170 like yours and get it defretted? That would make a nice pair (I am actually having problems finding a RBX270F, so i may start searching a fretted one to make it fretless myself)

It's likely I'll do that someday, and I Have done defret work before - and I even have the StewMac tool to do it right - but, I'd definitely prefer a nice, smooth, fretless factory neck from Yamaha. Really wish those 270's were available in the U.S.

hello, here's my new bb414 with a black gotoh 201 bridge!

there has been some discussion on this forum about replacing the bridge, well the gotoh 201 fits without modification and it sounds great and looks great too, recommended!

Yamaha BBN5.

EMG J-set installed, soon to be replace with an EMG 40P5 (neck) and a 40J (bridge). The preamp is of my own design and not in the picture is a recently added active/passive switch (bypasses my preamp, inserts orig EMG passive tone control, pickups still active) and it does have matching knobs now . This is the second neck about 12 years old (unfortunate fall from the stand messed up the original's back really bad), the body is older.

I have many basses, this is the first one I bought. I have others, really expensive custom job even, but this is my favorite bass to play (just feels perfect) and I probably play this about 10x as much as any other bass.

Strings are perfect center, Neck is perfect flat, but I just dropped it off monday to get the frets worked on, they were showing some wear (at least 1 hour practice every day for 12 years will wear anything down a bit). This is one of the finest basses I ever pruchased, or even came in contact with, for $300.
