Yamaha Pulser 400 Serial Number

I now know that Yamaha has had several formats for their serial nuimbers BUT, the serial number on my Pulser 400 does NOT match any of the formats... The serial number is:

004331....

Can any help with this? I was told it is a 1978 but I would like to validate it..
