This is currently the only bass I own, though I should be set to get another bass soon. But I was wondering if the one I have is good enough to gig with?

Yamaha RBX 800A Bass: Good or Bad?

IIRC, 800A was top model of the RBX series, some 30+ yrs ago. If everything's functioning on it, it should be more than good enough to gig with, since it was considered a pro instrument at the time. There are guys starting with Chinese Squiers, SX's etc.Also I'd advise you to keep it, since it was probably made in Japan, and is probably better than anything else in that price range these days. Again, IIRC, it's price back then was not too different from the prices of American Fenders, who were "outdated" back then. I wish my first bass was that good! Also a pic wouldn't hurt.
Excellent basses these are. You can gig and record with them with no issues, presuming that yours is a reasonably well-kept example. Their somewhat dated 80s look turned them into a bargain on the secondhand market but they were seriosly made instruments. I'd hang onto it and enjoy it.
