YAMAHA TRB Series - Discontinued?

Hi,

Does anybody know what YAMAHA intende to replace the TRB 1005 and TRB 1006 with? They are now discontinued and very hard to find.

I am glad to see however that they are still producing the TRB 5PII and 6PII

I am a big fan of Yamaha and have owned an RBX 765a from new for 11 years now. I absolutley love it and was dissapointed when they replaced the old RBX range with the new futuristic looking range which are in my opinion no where near as nice, although I suspect they still perform, I just don't like the style.

I have been hankering after a TRB for years, I can't afford my dream bass the TRB6PII but did fancy a 1005 or 1006 and was gutted to see that they are no longer being made. I have luckily just managed to pick up a cheap black TRB1005 on Ebay and I am not dissapointed. Although heavily played and well beaten up it is a stunning and awesome bass.

I just hope that YAMAHA will bring out a new range of TRB's and also hope that they will mintain the timeless style and excellent quality and apearence displayed by the past TRB models as I really want to own one from new in the future. Maybe one day I will be able o afford the TRB6PII but not any time soon.

Does anybody know what YAMAHA are planning??

Cheers,

Will.

I hadn't heard, that is a shame. I have a TRB5II that really sounds fantastic. It's very heavy and I don't play it much, but I took it to rehearsal last Thursday for the first time in months and was reminded of what a great bass it is.

There are probably a lot of them floating around; you should be able to pick one up in as new shape for the next couple of years.

I was actually looking for at fretless and ended up getting a lightly used Yamaha TRB 1005F TLB, since they now are discontinued.

I saw that there will be a continuation of the fretted basses though, since they will be called TRB 1005-J. According to a few online dealers with new electronics and a 5 piece neck.

I wrote Yamaha US and EU last week to confirm this, but got no reply thus far.

Cool, Thats exciting news for me. I have just googled for TRB1005J and it is true that some sites are already selling it. It seems very strange that there is nothing on the YAMAHA site yet though! It seems like the only change is the new 5 pc neck as is stated in the previous post.

I will be looking out for the 1006-J in the fututre then.

Thanks for the replies verybody.

On a foot note, I gigged my bargain second hand TRB1005 for the first time earlier this week and it is just such an amazing bass. I only payed £290 for it on Ebay and once cleaned up it is very nice indeed. It plays easier and faster than my RBX and looks awsome too.

I am so glad to know that I might still be able to own a new 6 string TRB in the future!

Yes Im afraid the TRB1006 has been dicontinued. As in the above thread there seems to be a new model in the pipeline but no firm evidence of a 6 string yet, just a new 5 string (1005J?) on some sites. YAMAHA still have no info on there web site and have not replied when I sent an on-line question about this to them.
