Yamaha TRB5PII - are they worth searching for?

You're correct. The original Yamaha TRB's and TRB-II basses are of excellent quality. I've also owned a few of those both on models. The thing to remember about those models is the fact that they we're made in Japan just like the P and Pii series basses. So the standard of production were very high.

However, even though the quality of the 1004 and 1005 are very good, they really don't compare to the Japanese made models. The production standards just aren't the same. Regardless, they would make for a fine instrument in their price range.

+100, I compared the TRB5/TRB5II to a Music Man or MIA Fender and the TRB1005 to a MIM Fender. I don't thnk that is an insult. A MIM Fender is a perfectly playable instrument, I know I have owned a few myself, and was very happy to use them. I just think the MIJ Yamahas are a big step up in quality. The current TRB5PII is a boutique level instrument, IMHO. The main point is that one simply must know what one is buying, and accept it for what it is.

TRB5PII is a lovely, versatile instrument....have one, and I is a joy to play, but is it any more so than my BTB1305e? A bit...but at nearly $1700 more expensive used???? The 1305 rings like a Baby grand... Prestige or Cirrus would be my bet for the dollar...

I agree that a BTB with American Barts is the equal if a TRB5P or TRB5PII. Prices are not about quality but demand. A Cirrus or a Prestige Ibanez is a great deal too.

Hey guys. I'm new to the post here but I have a Yamaha TRB 5PII and am thinking of selling it. In the UK they were £2500 to buy new. How much do you think I should get for it? Its in excellent condition as I've hardly used it and as far as I can see from the serial number a April 2007 model.
