Thinking of buying a TRBX504, researched online and rarely find somebody who has something bad to say. Anybody had any experiences with this bass?

Seems a excellent bass that wont bankrupt me.

I've had a 504 for about four months, and I've found it to be solid, consistent, and of impeccable build quality :).
I can't compare the tone or feature set to any other bass because I don't own any other bass, but I love the sounds I can get out of it and it seems a very well put together bass with very good quality workmanship :).

And it looks sexay too...

Thanks for your input, As much as I love the BB2024 (prefereably x variety) there is no way I could afford that :( I have played some passive Ibanez's in music shops before and they haven't been to my tastes, but I will have to try some active's. You are right, your bass is pretty delicious ;) but I prefer it in brown. Think I will have to go and try out the TRBX504, research says go for it but I like to try them out first.

For what it's worth, belated notes on my 504:

- I saw a few online reports of problems with the passive/active switch, but I've had none: it does what it's supposed to every time, and I can flip the switch while my amp volume is all the way up and there's no "pop".
- The preamp has a little hiss. You probably won't hear it in most situations unless you've got the treble boosted. It goes away in passive mode.
- It seems well-shielded. In situations where my other bass picked up some annoying hum, this one doesn't have any.
- Out of the box the action was low, with no buzz, all it needed was tuning. Since then I've changed the strings and had some trouble getting it set up as well again--but I'm pretty positive that's me, since I've never attempted relief/action adjustments before. I'll give up and take it to a pro some day.

Anyway, executive summary: great instrument, I'm happy with it.

I've played this bass at he local store a couple times. I like it...even if it wasn't $499. I have been debating scaling back my gear and this might be a good under $500 option that will still work great. I have been a 5 string guy for a long time, but have also thought about dumping the B string to see what happens.

I've been a little unmotivated lately as I don't gig any more (my choice mostly) and I don't see myself going back to playing club gigs from 10 - 2 am. Just not into it. I play at my church and this would be plenty of bass for that.

In my opinion, having tried them all (and all are good):

TRBX304 is better than SR300
TRBX504 is better than SR500
SR750 is better than TRBX504

I'm a little late but in regards to the "SR750 is better than TRBX504" I would agree. There is quite a price difference however but the active P/J set-up of the 750 (and it's less expensive brethren the 650) is what interests me.

It's anything but modest bass.It has that really nice organic punch in the bridge pickup, and the tone is cLear ,open and fits perfectly in the mix.I love mine.
