yamaha vs peavey

what do you think the best active bass to buy is for around £200

I gotta admit I've never tried that Yamaha so take this with a huge grain of salt, but I've never liked the neck on any Yammy I've ever played. Too danged fat. I own the Peavey (and I've got another U.S. made one on the way). The Millenniums have the most comfortable neck ever in IMHO.

Though shop about on ebay i've picked up 2 warwick's off ebay for that price (£250 and £175) admitedly they were good catches but still... they we're a streamer lx (£250) and a streamer std 5 string (£175) so keep your eye's peeled for a deal and you could end up with sumthing alot nicer (don't go for fender on ebay tho, no money saved.)

do you mean from top to bottom or front to back? what i love about yamahas is how thin and light (front to back) the necks are yet still nice and wide (top to bottom). At least the TRB series anyway,

Try to find a Yamaha RBX-774 on the used market - for about 4 years a pair of fretted and fretless 775s were my "everyday" basses, and when I got a chance to compare them to the 37X line I threw up in my mouth a little. :eek: They're not horrid, but the 774s were much better in about every way - wood, hardware, pickups and tone, construction, quality control... they're worth the search.
