I like itI really like the way the stock white pg looked but just happened to have a tort guard laying around. I’m kinda shocked that it actualy seems to work I mean on paper it’s a pretty bad combinations. Your feedback will be appreciated.

Good eye, it's a brown tortoise I specially picked for my sunburst jazz. I think a mint green might be interesting but I’m not buying any pickguards as it’s not that important. I found this brown tortoise in my cabinet and was surprised it looked as good as it does. Will leave it on for now, it looks better in person.First I want to say...Chose the one you like and don't worry what anyone else thinks.
To answer your query:
I prefer the white. This particular tort is too dark for my taste. White perloid could work.
Maybe a brighter tort with more red:

My choice also, and my thoughts as well. Mint all the way. Tort is fine, but prefer tort on sunburst or yellowed oly white body. Particularly with what I consider vintage bass designs. Pearloid? Yechh. Reminds me of bling put on a cheap bass to try to class it up. Sort of like gold plated hardware.I think the tort looks slightly better in this example (tort always works with a rosewood board), however for that shade of blue, I'd also consider mint green.
Rule of thumb for me: Any of the solid fender colors, especially the blues, greens and reds, will always work well with mint green - even more so when coupled with a rosewood board. Mint green always adds depth and imparts a more vintage appearance to the instrument IMO.
If only tort knobs and pickup covers were a thing, I'd say white.I really like the way the stock white pg looked but just happened to have a tort guard laying around. I’m kinda shocked that it actualy seems to work I mean on paper it’s a pretty bad combinations. Your feedback will be appreciated.
