I guess I can speak freely since the OP is ignoring me. I look at being in a band like being in business. One of the big rules is not to trash your employer, your employees or your customers. Many people feel that if you talk trash about the people you used to work with, then you'll talk trash about them.

You may have a different opinion, but when I do an audition for a band and hear about what an a-hole their last bass player was, along with a list a mile long of his short-comings, my first thought is that they'll probably say the same things about me when I leave and my second thought is if he was so bad why did they stick with him for so long?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but in my old age I don't need the drama anymore.

...Male singer does not sing to the audience. Quite often is walking back and forth onstage singing to band members. Last gig, he was literally 8 inches away from my face singing to me! WTH?!?!!

Yeah, I am replacing a Guy that was in my new band for 5 years.

They say they merely needed a better bass player, but who knows.

In a way I would like to know the reason so I don't do the same thing.

While this may be the ideal...it may even be true...but you made me LOL. You're talking about performing arts and saying there is no room for ego? I don't ANY singers or guitar players who don't bring their egos to the show.
