You didn't mention what your budget was. I've owned Fenders, and they were great, but I really enjoy my Lull:

If you really dig the jazz tone, his basses are worth a look.

yeah, looking around for a cool funky but awesome jazz bass with great fast action...not sure which way to go since there are soooooo many out there...do i really have to pay a fortune for a pro quality and awesome sounding but jazz bass with a cool funky vibe to it? i want one that i can play out and not worry about it failing breaking some how or in need of work...just a good solid and fast action awesome jazz bass!

I just got an American Special JB black n maple and I can't recommend this bass highly enough. Like any Fender you have to try a bunch. I played about 10 in different stores and different cities looking for "the one" and I found it. Allsome bays!

Some '62 or Classic 60's or 60's Road Worn. Quintessential vintage Jazz tone. If you want modern Fender Jazz tone look at the American Deluxe series.

I'd urge you to buy something other than Southeast Asian models. Support as domestically as possible. USA, Japan, or Mexico if you realllllyyy have to..
