If I had to have just 3 basses...1st would be my favorite '57 Fullerton P, '62 Fullerton Jazz and my Tele Bass....my acoustic/electric fretless would be next in line just for the fun factor.

Pbass , Ray , Ric are my vote for the three , however the reality is the only one I gig with is the Dano Longhorn . I'm still not sure just how it happened but I've come to accept it .

Because Longhorns are somehow an amazing bass design, quite unexpectedly. I agree, it's crazy. I've had a 60's Dano, and now my Jerry Jones. My JJ records SO well, and sounds so solid that it blows people away. Sits in the mix as good as any P or J.

- Lull M4V Jazz - active/passive
- Fender CIJ '51P reissue
- Fretless something - in my case a Turner Ren 4

I also have an MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe, but it hardly gets any play these days. Nice bass, but redundant in the mix with the other 3 these days.

I have a real love hate relationship with the tone of the Aria. It's super mid heavy and in comparison to my P of J it sounds anemic sometimes but it sits in a mix so perfectly. It's also flat out the best playing bass I have ever owned. Having said that, I think about selling it every now and then.

Right now I've got three on my wall: 70s lawsuit (Ibanez) Jazz, Peavey RJ-IV (active P-J with a flexible preamp), Peavey T-40. Pretty balanced roster -- the Ibanez plays really well and covers your basic jazz bass sounds, the RJ plays super fast and comfortable and covers clean/modern/punchy, the T-40 is clunky but can do all sorts of sounds the other two can't.

Funny. A T-40 would be on my list if I could do a 5er. I've seen some custom T-40 five string mods that really get my interest. But my current rotation is an MM sr5. Warwick Corvette std 5 and a cirrus 5.

That covers what I need. But I'm gassing for s T-40 to make into a 5er!!!!

Those Ken Lawrence Brases are just consistently amazing instruments and I finally broke down and bought an E5S and now know what the fuss was about.
