Surprise to not see Lindy Fralin in here anyway, that's what I have on my Jazz and I love them...

Rio Grande Muy Grandes. They are my absolute favorite jazz pickups, they are really beefy, high output, but still have a great tone.
Forgive my terrible recording, going straight into a mixer, it picked up a lot of 60hz hum when using only the neck or bridge pickup.

My jazz is now 8 months in on version 4 as far as pick ups go. There are no plans for version 5. Very satisfied with Mike Lulls custom wound Lindy Fralins hum cancelling. I do not know what the differences are to normal Fralins but they are mighty sweet. Respond wonderfully to eq and technique. low end is nice and tight, mids focused, top end is quite manageable. I feel that these pups truly make my jazz more versatile than others I've tried. so much so that the jazz now sports fender flats and P bass is relegated to back up role. Maybe it's time to put some zingy rounds on the P to have something totally different.
I've heard others rave of their Fralins much in the same manner. I hate to use the term vintage sounding. Yes they can do that, but so much more also. Like I said, very responsive. For me, that's what sets them apart.

Hello, I own a '62 and a '72 Fender Jazz bass and have tried many vintage basses so I know what the real thing sounds like up close not only through recordings so when my '72 Jazz bass pickups expired a few months ago I chose - Sliders vintage wind pickups. They aren't off the shelf pickups, Rod "Slider" makes them for you. For me they deliver the cream of the crop vintage tones that I've been missing in my real Fenders. Not all vintage pickups are the same and Sliders are absolutely vintage correct from the materials and the tones. They are not loud, they are majestic. For me it is Aero JB-1 for single coil and Aguilar Hum-Canceling 4-String Jazz Bass Pickup Set For noiseless. These are great pickups
If you go with the Aquilar Noisless do not put coppers shielding in the bass as for me anyway it made them sound flat and due. Removed the shielding and the beautiful voice of the pickups returned. I did put shielding in the bass with the Aero's and they are pretty darn quiet even with unbalanced volume settings. Aggies are totally quiet and come the closest to sounding like single coil vintage sounding pickups
