I don't know. I happen to think that Bernie Worrell's work at least rivals if not surpasses Stevie's. Bernie's stuff was different vibe though.

Bernie was definitely on another level. Every time I listen to his lines I am amazed!
Another good synth bass player was Kashif. Check out some of his work with Evelyn "Champagne" King, Melba Moore and Howard Johnson. Not as good as Bernie but certainly high quality. What the heck. Here a couple of tracks from him....
