Which is your favourite fuzzies in 1590A? And why? I am interested in original designs rather than clones. Thanks!
I have a COG Mini Tarkin and I love it. It's based on the Muff Green Russian circuit but it has a lot of tweaks in it that make it a super versatile fuzz that cover a lot of tonal ground. I highly recomend it.
You have the Malekko Omicron fuzz and the SFX Micro fuzz. Fuzz Dog's pedal parts has a lot of DIY kits to assemble with Fuzz circuits.
ZVEX Fuzzalo or Mooer Bass Fog are the two that I've tried. I liked them both. They're glitchy and kind of "out there" sounding.
I have the v8 tone fuzz... it’s an oscillator on one side of the tone knob so kinda interesting... just the volume is LOUD and so makes it unusable for me, cos a nudge of the knob can go from fun to blowing speakers and that’s not even at full volume. Think it was designed to push guitar amps more..
I had a Svisound fuzz that was pretty cool a while back. There's a silicon version on eBay cheap right now: SviSound Si Silicon Fuzz pedal | eBay Only $50 shipped. Might be worth a go.
Those guys at SviSound make really cool pedals. I forgot about them but the have some small fuzzes that could be worth a shot.
Mine was well designed and well made but it was based around a NOS Soviet germanium transistor, so it wasn't quite the same as the silicon one I linked to. Biggest downside was that it had a REALLY hot output -- there was very little range between inaudible and arena volume -- if you so much as looked at the volume knob it went CRAZY loud.
My vote goes to the SFX micro fuzz, lots of bottom end. The Mooer Fog has it's uses, but not a favourite of mine. The Mooer Thunderball has a low intensity fuzz setting I like, but that's more like overdrive.
