Your Favourite Cover??

Awesome thread!

My Faves in descending order:

Number 1 by a mile: Blue Man Group with Esthero, doing Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit". CHILLS I tell you!

(Also a special nod to the BMG on the Complex Tour doing bits of Crazy Train and all of Teenage Wasteland as well as the above)

Other faves:
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower (Bob Dylan)
Faith No More - Easy (Lionel Ritchie, wasn't it?)
Metallica - Turn the Page (Bob Seger), Whiskey in the Jar (the Thin Lizzy version of the old Irish folk tune)
Primus - Amos Moses (Jerry Reed)

And I can't remember the name of the band, but a few years back there was an obscure heavy metal cover of I Want You/She's So Heavy (Beatles). It rocked, a LOT.

Yep it was Lionel Richie, I listed that one as well hehe.

Reminded me,

Les's Frog Brigade doing Thella Hun Ginjeet (I think a King Crimson Song)
Keller Williams also does a great Crazy Train and Ramble On

Doh - missed your mention of Easy, sorry.

2 more things: 1.Thela Hun Ginjeet is a cool song, and is deffo KC. and 2.Keller Williams is my favorite guitarist these days, his playing and his songs are incredible.

Iced Earth-Iced Earth
Iced Earth-Night of the Stormrider (old one)
Hammerfall-Crimson Thunder
Rhapsody-Power of the Dragon
Rhapsody-Night of a 1000 flames

EDIT: I know I read the description when I posted, but I guess I didn't get it. But in case of favorite looking CD covers, those are above, but in terms of favorite cover tunes:

Iced Earth: Transylvania-Iron Maiden
Amon Amarth: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath-Black Sabbath
Children of Bodom: Don't Stop at the Top-Scorpions

Thank you jammadave, even though I caught this way too late

Wait, this thread is about covers you like to listen to, of one band doing another band's stuff - it looks like you've listed bands and their songs that you like to cover.

I could be wrong, but I don't *think* Iced Earth was a song before Iced Earth did it (?)

I'll delete my post if I'm totally crackers here.

Some covers that I like to listen to are:

Pearl Jam - Sonic Reducer (Dead Boys) (which, sorry to say, kills the original)
Tool - You Lied (Peach)
Audioslave - Working Man (Rush)

And probably my favorite:

Pearl Jam - Crown of Thorns (Mother Love Bone - Pearl Jam w/ out Vedder)

Peace,
Sean

That'd be the Kronos Quartet-- didn't know they did more than just Purple Haze, and should have known. Ta very much.

My list would have to include (but is not limited to:):
Eric Clapton Cocaine (J J Cale)
Eric Clapton I Shot The Sheriff (Bob Marley)
Pat Metheny Group Insensatez (Tom Jobim)
Pat Metheny Third Stone From The Sun (Jimi Hendrix)
Jimi Hendrix The Star-Spangled Banner (uh...)
Deep Purple Hush (Joe South)
Elton John Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (Lennon/Macca)

any Beatles cover they put their minds to, with the possible exception of Mister Moonlight
anything Frank Sinatra sang
anything Ella Fitzgerald sang
