Your opinion on Rondomusic....

The old-style SX basses were a steal at the price, a great classic bass look, and cheap enough to learn how to mod basses on (I did with 4 of dem bad boys).

The new style headstocks coming out on SX basses and guitars are not for everyone, but to each his/her own. I am waiting on just the right 5-string Douglas or for the day that they still have the semi-hollow in stock.

Kurt is great to buy from - you no likey? Let him know and he has a great, best in the Biz, return policy. He knows his stock and where they came from - understanding that and not thinking his SX gear is the cream of the crop, but a great start in the world of paying music, gives him a leg up on many small music shop owners.

Be careful on the descriptions of his gear - he has a bit of a 'cut-n-paste' fetish that tends to get over-used and some items have iffy descriptions. Just remember that jazz based bass guitar necks (old-style headstock) have a similar feel to Fender's; same with the P's. I cannot speak about any of them tinny lil' six string dinky slabs of wood tho (jk).

Best thing is if you purchase and there is an issue (bad item, don't like), contact Rondo and they will take it back. I absolutely love the 'honest by you, honest by me' approach with Rondo.

I have 4 SX bass guitars, an SX neck and hardware on an old basswood P body, 3 extra necks (not-so-good a shape), and a small bass amp for practice.

Rondo rocks - great place to get your start.

Rondo provides some of the best customer service in the business.

The guitar quality can be spotty (not horrible - but issues occur more often then you'd get buying from a store where you can see the product), but they are backed up 100% by Rondo, so there's really no risk.

Buy one. If there's a defect, send it back. No problem.

Yes have a 5 string douglas, 3 jazzes, 1 fretless jazz, 1 strat, 2 teles, 3 les paul AL 3100s. All are great worth 5x as much as Ive paid

I bought one of the SX fretless J basses, It plays very nice and has a Ebinol like neck. I never played a fretless, and didn't want to risk BIG$ on something I didn't know if I would even really get into. It was a great buy @ $135.00 Good wood, nice sounding pickups, and a beautiful finish. I'd say almost on par w/ Squire.

I've got several models of different brands from Rondo, and they're not bad for cheap instruments. You can't expect perfection, but the quality definitely goes up as you go from SX to Agile or Brice or Douglas.

Overall, they're not bad for the money, and Kurt is pretty good w/ communication. I'd recommend checking out their instruments, just try to have reasonable expectations.
