Your thought on the Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive Pedal?

Boss ODB-3 is great, I love mine, used it for years. Granted I'm currently planning on replacing it, but with a B3K, not really comparable even though they are both OD.

And yes, buy used, they don't go for more than $60 locally here, I imagine cheaper online.

And -1 to the guy who recommended the MXR blow torch, that is one awful sounding distortion to me. Sounds super synth-y, was going on my way to try one out at the local store, had them set it up and waiting for my arrival. Listened to some sound clips online for once before I went down, then when I went in to the music store to try it, I had them unplug it and tried out a Diamond compressor... never even wanted to hear it.

I own an ODB-3. I keep the blend almost off or maybe just a smidge on. I use it for a little grit and I can actually do it not too bad. I run it into an El Grande Bass Fuzz. Sometimes I use them at the same time for a little more compression. I've definitely got my eyes open for something better though.

If you're interested in modding it a bit, it can be a B+ pedal, for sure. You'll be able to find something more to your liking in the years to come, but I think everyone has to own this pedal to get a good jumping off point. I owned one that I had modded. I liked it a lot & probably won't sell it because it's my first mod project.

Buy used. No question.

If your local store has some other pedals, such as the Way Huge pedals or the bass Tubescreamer, try those too. Unless a little gnarly high end is in you wish list. Then the BOSS has everything you need, for now.
