I think Truetone was Western Auto Stores.

I mostly believe in new ones, but from the vintage, I would say - Fender vintage 62' jazzbass.

Wouldn't surprise me. My county seat has a Western Auto store. Going there is like time-traveling back to the 1950s: the most mind-boggling hodegpodge of merchandise imaginable.

My view is that vintage is about the sentimental connection (I can make a better bass today for playing purposes. Hence I’d go for the first widely available thing - a 51 Precision.

I don't own any of these and I'm not going to rank them, but the following have always appeal to me:

Fender: I like the Vintage Precision, Vintage Jazz, Vintage Telecaster Bass, an early Bass V (the ones tuned EADGC), & an early Bass VI.

Gibson: the G3 and going way back a Florentine Bass Banjo

Framus: the singlecut Bill Wyman Star Bass

1963 Fender Precision - Sunburst (if I didn’t have the above, this would be my number one).

1968 Fender Telecaster - Seafoam Green
1969 Fender Telecaster - Blonde
1971 Fender Telecaster Neck / 1969 Fender Precision body
1975 Fender Precision refinished gold sparkle
1996 Rickenbacker 4003
2000 Gibson Thunderbird

I don’t deserve such great basses. But, rest assured I record and gig with them a lot. So they are not wall hangers.

Yes, Eastwood has done some reissues. I've never seen an original ampeg up close, but I did see an eastwood being played at a club once. it sounded pretty good from what I remember, but the band over all wasn't really my cup of tea. so it was a little difficult to assess.

Eastwoods do not have "roll" on the top of the headstock,a classic Ampeg feature, The Eastwood headstock looks more Travis Bean. They sound good on a YouTube demo. Really like the body style.
