YouTube question

This is fun :) My progress so far.....

Sonicdeath, I downloaded the add-on and it seems to work. The converter Captain linked me too is a little too confusing for me so I'll have to hunt around for a converter later.

Roon that program you linked me to looked promising but it's not compatible with windows Vista (Sorry Bernie, no Macs here). I'll hunt around for something that is.

Alvaro I downloaded Audacity and it looks pretty darn good, especially for a free program. Reminds me of Cool Edit Pro and Wavelab, only more user friendly. However my sound card isn't so easy - I hunted around in control panel in the sound card's recording section I couldn't find how to set the sound card's recording source to "Wave" or "What you hear". It's a new PC and maybe the standard soundcard isn't up to it? Or is this the sort of thing all sound cards should be able to do?

Thanks for everyone's help so far.

I have a question too, is there a way to get a myspace video (not found on youtube) onto the computer? I'm also only interested in the audio part.

OK I've done it! I used this program:-

It's free. All you do is hit record, then hit play on the myspace/youtube video you're interested in. It records whatever's coming through your sound card and saves it to a file. It can save in MP3, WAV, or WMA and it sound quality is good.

Here's a tip, close your email software down first. I recieved an email just as I started recording and the email notification sound came out on the recording :) Maybe close ALL other software just to be safe.

Couldn't have done it without you help guys. thanks.

If you use Windows, those settings can be found by double-clicking on the speaker icon in the tray (Lower right corner). You should see a "playback" mixer. For the "recording" mixer, look in that window for something like Options > Properties. Then you'll find two radio buttons: "Playback" and "Recording". The second one, of course, will show you the recording mixer, which allows you to choose a source.

I tried recording, turned the quality to highest, and the sound came out pretty crappy... :(
