Oh man, this hurts. This is such a NICE bass; feels, plays, and looks great, but it’s not the tone I’m used to. I prefer the tone of single coils, and while I’ve contemplated an electronic swap I don’t think that will give me exactly what I want. I played Zon basses for years and after a long (too long) hiatus I picked this up and I can’t understand why I waited so long to come back. Quality and craftsmanship is top notch, and it plays great. Very low setup with no buzz, light weight and balanced. I just prefer the more focused, aggressive single coil Jazz pickups in a regular Sonus 5.

Specs:

• 2011 Zon Sonus Custom
• Swamp Ash Body
• Gallery Grade Water Cured / Blackened Redwood Top
• Matching Headstock
• Composite neck (with truss rod) and Phenolic fretboard
• 17mm spacing, 34” scale, 9 pounds, 24 frets
• Bartolini Pickups
• Bartolini Preamp – Volume (with push/pull Active/Passive switch), Blend, Bass, Mid, Treble
• Warwick (sorry) gig bag
• Bass is MINT

I would prefer to trade this for a similar Zon Sonus 5 with Single Coils. Bass must be fairly recent, and have a nice top with a natural finish. I would also consider the right MTD 535, but aside from that I’m not looking for any other trades, at all. I would really prefer a trade, but being realistic that’s not likely to happen, so $2600 shipped via UPS/FedEx Ground in the continental US. New cost is about $5,000 and Zon prices are about to go up again.

I just picked up a sonus (exact same pickups though sorry) and the low B sounds unreal! Whoever grabs this will love it.

Those pickups have 4 wires if I'm not mistaken. Probably and easy rewire to make it a jazz setup. Ask Zon for assistance...
