Zon Sonus "facelift"...

Darn, that is one gorgeous Zon. I bet it sounds as good, or even better than it looks. Classy deep blue finish.

If you'd ever consider selling it, I'd sure like dibs on it!:smug:

I'm hooked on the graphite necks. When you are used to the sound and playability, it's hard to go back to "regular" necks.

A Sonus 5 would be a great compliment to my Quantum 6.:hyper:

Funny thing is, I'm not surprised you said "when you are used to the sound and playability" since you're a Modulus owner. Have you ever played a Zon? I've played Modulus' before, and while I think they're very great basses, you do actually have to kind of "get used to" them. For me, the Zons felt more natural... no adjustment period whatsoever... it's what sold me so much on them. Seem to have all the benefits of the graphite neck, yet still sound organic and natural, having a real warmth to their tone.

Seriously, check one out soon if you can (if you haven't already). They're a very different animal than the Modulus, and (like you say) would probably be an excellent compliment to the Quantum, since it's very different.

I actually meant, when you are used to sound and playability, as in sounding and playing better than everything else I've ever played UP TO NOW.

Anyway, I've heard people say that a lot. They also say that the Modulii (just love writing that) sound more modern than the Zons, in a negative sense. I can't really pin-point what the "modern" sound is in my Quantum (semi-hollow, Oteil model) is, but I can tell you this, though; I've played early Aretha Franklin stuff on it live, and I had no problem getting a great P-bass tone out of it. For me, a full (often EQ'd), yet clear tone is exactly what I want, and what the Quantum delivers. Fat bass + defined notes = tone heaven, for me, that is. I bought the Modulus from The Groove Shoppe NYC, just from testimonies here on TB, and I couldn't be happier with it!

I'd really like to try out a Zon for myself, the problem is just that AFAIK, there are literally, like, 2 Zons in the whole nation of Sweden, which is also the case with Modulus. Although, we have The Fuzz Guitar Show coming up May 5-6 in my hometown, and if I'm lucky, there might be a few Zons there, who knows?

Yeah, I've seen this too, and personally, I'd never go that far.

I don't wanna' derail on the rest of my Modulus thoughts, so I'll PM you on those but in short, if they were really "that bad" there wouldn't be as many people playing them, and let's face it, they're not selling because they're inexpensive. :)

Yeah, this was my concern. I wish you luck! I really would like to hear your thoughts on a Zon.

That blue one is a beaut, Vic.

The redwood is my fave (especially since I've had a chance to get my paws all over it), but I don't think Zon can make a bad bass, judging by my experience with yours.

Play them in good health! :D
