Zon Vinny VB5
  • 5-string headless;
  • Carbon fiber neck;
  • Composite fretboard made of wood and resin;
  • Abalone fretboard inlays;
  • Chrome hardware (Zon website says it ABM);
  • Ash body;
  • Flat satin finish;
  • Bartolini pickups;
  • Active 3-band electronics with volume, pickup selector/pan, bass, mids (with push/pull for low and high mids) and treble;
  • New D’addario XL strings
  • Includes the Zon tool for restringing
One small ding near the output jack (measures approximately 1/2” long by 3/8” wide - see photos); discoloration on the pickup shells (pickups work fine - see photos); two screws missing from each pickup (see photos); slight jagged edge on the neck pocket with what appears to be a tiny finish crack (see photos); and a pin prick size scratch on the back of the neck. It’s so small it doesn’t photographI just mention it here for complete disclosure. Otherwise, this bass is in excellent condition. There is no fret wear, and overall it appears unplayed.

If you were to order this bass from Zon, it would currently cost $4640, and would take a year (or more) to receive. And per Zon, this bass is only available by custom ordering it directly; it isn’t sold through stores.

This listing is for sale to the continental U.S. only.

I have listed shipping as $125 (including packing materials.) This is the maximum that you will pay, and I will refund the difference if it is less. If I pay less, you pay less!

Currently also listed on Reverb (you can see my feedback score there), and locally.

feel free to reach out with any questions.

Is it also Bartolini preamp?
How old is the bass?
Are you the original owner?

Yes, I believe it’s also the Bartolini pre-amp. I had a shop look it over recently, and they said it’s all original. (I’ve attached a picture of the preamp below.)

This bass was made in 2008, but as I said in the ad, it was barely played. The shop that I purchased it from bought an entire music room full of instruments from some rich guy. Apparently he bought a whole bunch of high end instruments (also had a six-string Ken Smith and multiple guitars than ran from $2500 to $50,000) so he’d have them when he wanted to jam with friends. That plan never really panned out, so the instruments just sat.

*Compact platform but super-solid...9 lbs sounds about right.

*Simply the best headstock lock-down system I've ever used.

*The bolt-on neck should have a heel-accessible truss rod but you will have to remove the neck. The set-necks did not.
