Recently got this Zoom A3 pedal with the idea of using it to improve the sound of my EUB to more closely resemble the acoustic sound of my DB.
That will be an ongoing project, but so far I have gotten a pretty good handle on how to set up the pedal - something that is NOT AT ALL INTUITIVE - but if you view the Zoom video, that is very helpful. (video is at: )
The things I like about this pedal are:
1. It allows me to pre-set a number of 'patches' which control the sound and tone of the piezzo pickup. Up to 3 patches can be made active (labelled A,B,C) and can be easily toggled between by simply tapping the footswitch. So far, I have set up 1 patch for PIZZ and one patch for ARCO. Each has its own EQ settings (you can choose between Graphic of Semi-Parametric, or conceivably both). For the arco patch I reduced some high frequencies and lowered the volume.
I also allow me to blend BOTH a piezzo pickup (I am using a Lifeline) AND a microphone (I am using the Ischell).
I will probably end up having patches for my DB as well as separate patches for my EUB - a BSX Allegro. For the EUP I will ONLY be working with the piezzo, no microphone.
Here is a brief video I made showing these features, I hope to add some audio clips demonstrating the various patches later.
