Zoom B2.1.u Questions

I bought one of these pedals from a fellow TBer a while back. For the most part I have figured out how to use it to make patches. But I have just a couple of questions on things I have not quite figured out yet.

1. When playing" For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica, the bass intro is played with distortion, them the distortion is switched off and the rest of the song is played clean. I have yet to figure out how to go from the distorion to clean.
2. The unit seems to randomly save patches rather than saving them in order. Is there some way that I could save patches in order? It would really help when playing "For Whom the Bell Tolls".

If these issues cannot be solved, then I am going either get a different unit of go to individual pedals.

1. You can bypass the effect by just pressing both buttons at the same time. BP shows up on the display.

2. You can save the patches in order. When you click 'Store', you can normally toggle to the patch number you want to save it on before you click Store again.

My memory may be a bit fuzzy on the 'how' of it...if you don't have the manual, you can download it here:

I have a B2 that I use live extensively. It's easy to set up clean an dirty patches next to each other. There are several ways to do it. Here is the easiest...set up and save the distortion patch that you like in two places (like A0, and A1)next to each other. Now go to one of them and go to the drive module and bypass it. It's now a clean patch. You may need to adjust the eq a little, but that will get you started.

You can set up the user patches any way you want, I have mine set up with clean or neutral patches every so often so I can go from clean to mild to wild back to clean.

I really like the synth sounds that the zoom B2/B2.1u make especially when you start adding additional processing to the synth sounds. I have a b2 I use just for synth sounds.

If you don't have them yet get a cheat sheet.
