Zoom B3 and Reaper recording question

Hey all,

Clearly a recording newbie with a newbie question.

I'm attempting to record with decent sound quality. I have a Zoom B3 and I have Reaper recording software. Connections are fine... I worked past that stage...

But I can not set my bass to past a quarter volume without clipping. I can turn down the total level on the zoom b3 but that leaves the bass at barely audible while recording. This does sound decent on playback but I'm pretty sure it's not ideal recording situation.

Am I missing something?

Using:
Ibanez SR 506
Zoom B3
Reaper
Acer Aspire V3-551 Laptop

Quarter Inch running from bass to Zoom.
Headphones in the Zoom
USB connecting Zoom to laptop.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
