Zoom H1n question about direct input

My son would like to go through some old cassettes and CDs and possibly record bits and pieces of things to use as samples in beats that he puts together.
With the Zoom H1n, would we be able to take the signal out of a stereo system tuner (remember those?) and send it to the Zoom (we have a cord with stereo RCA plugs on one end and a 1/8" plug on the other), and then transfer the files to a laptop using a USB cable?
We're trying to keep it simple and inexpensive.

well, first 'direct input' is instrument-level. the output of stereo tuner is line-level.

I believe, H1n has a stereo line-level input jack, so you're good to go.

Thank you. I'll check the specs to confirm the presence of a stereo line-level input jack.
(By "direct input", I just meant "not using a microphone.")

The specs simply say:

1/8" stereo phone jack
Rated input level: -∞ dB to -39 dBm
Input impedance: 2 kΩ
Plug-in power supported (2.5 V)

there's literally 'line in' written aside the input jack, so don't overcomplicate it. =)

just set the gain right and you're good.

Careful about sampling and copyrights especially if you post on youtube or facebook
