Up for sale is a 1970s Univox "Professional Bass" P Bass copy. I'm not sure of the exact year, but suspect it's between 1976 and 1979. It's a classic "lawsuit era" P Bass made in Japan at the legendary Matsumoku factory. It is 100% stock and comes with the original hardshell case. It's in great cosmetic shape and the frets have very little wear on them.
Now for the bad... the action was a little high for my tastes and I tried to adjust the truss rod, but it felt maxed out. I decided to try the technique of taking off the truss rod nut and adding a couple washers to buy it a few more turns. I got the nut off just fine, but the rod end slipped back into the cavity just a bit and now I can't get the nut back on, with our without washers. It just will not catch the threads now. I took it to a local guitar tech, but he said he'd have to take the fretboard off to get to it. I really don't believe that's necessary, but I certainly don't have the right tools for the job either way.
I have 6 other P Basses and just don't really feel like spending more time or money to figure this out at this point. I was planning to sell it anyway. But now I'm willing to make someone a really nice TB deal. I just want to be very clear that I am selling the bass as-is.
In the pictures below, the ones where the strings are off is the bass in its current state.
So, $375 gets it shipped to your CONUS address. PayPal F&F please. Please DM if you have questions. Thanks for looking!
