2022 Alpher Cobia

I bought this bass from the original owner in the spring of 2023. He had just received it from the builder in Great Britain, but had changed his area of bass interest to six strings and sold it to me with almost zero playing time. So, the bass was and remains as new. The original build price was $5,374.00 US.
As a fair disclosure, in February, 2025 the bass had developed surface hairline cracks in each the headstock veneer and on the top along the upper bout just above the pickups. One crack in each area. I took the bass to master luthier, Andrew Drake for repair. Andrew consulted with Alpher about cause, and it was thought the difference in climate between Britain and the US Midwest was likely the reason. The cracks were repaired by Andrew. There remains a slight glue line on the headstock veneer. There is nothing visible in the area of the top repair. Both areas repaired are, and expected to remain, stable. Again, these were only hairline cracks.
This bass is elegant looking and is a joy to play. It is done in a Jazz Bass style and holds it's weight in that traditional jazz Bass sound and feel.
