The body wood is mahogany with a quilt maple top. There is a thin black accent layer. Neck is quarter sawn maple, with black binding that continues around the matching headstock.
The B string is really solid, better than my Yamaha or Ibanez bass's. Probably about as good as it gets for 34" scale. Of course string choice will influence the clarity and tone. I have not played a Roscoe, but I hear they are very nice.
