Up for sale is an early Chris Benavente single cut 4.

Bought the bass here on TB to try out. https://www.talkbass.com/classifieds/benavente-single-cut-walnut-mahogany.1673029/

Matte oil finish. Bass plays GREAT! I mostly play 6 strings and bought this one on a whim in 2025. It should be out and played in the wild.

Body is Mahogany. Neck is Maple. Weight is 7.8 pounds on the bathroom digital. Pickups are Nordstrands. Unsure what Chris used for the preamp though.

Bass has had two extra holes that have been filled on the rear upper horn. They were there when I bought the bass. It also has a ding on the top above the bridge and between the bridge and bridge pickup - ~3" above the bridge - seen on the first pic. All of them are well documented in the original ad. However, with the wax on the body, they are really not much to look at.

I've attached photos of the rear of the upper horn and the body wear above the neck pickup. I'm confident that if someone really wanted to sand and fill the rear holes, they'd be unnoticeable, same goes for light sanding on the front of the body for the body wear from someone in the past that had long thumb nails. Again, with some body wax, you really can't see much of anything.

Also, there is front body wear above the neck pickup. Again, I waxed the body and it really doesn't show up much now. I was going to sand the body and fill the holes properly, but was concerned about matching the finish - and then I'd need to paint the body, which I didn't want to do. I'd rather keep it all original and let it be played.

All I've done to it is clean it up a little (it could use some more cleaning), restrung with new strings, set intonation and action height. I haven't adjusted the truss rod because the neck was already flat and action was set pretty low.

Neck is pretty thin (Jazz bass ish, not Precision bass ish). Nut is 42 mm, 12th fret is 53 mm, 24th fret is 60 mm and string spacing at the bridge is 18-19mm (all by my steel ruler in my desk).

Price is shipped and insured. Comes with the gig bag that came with the bass in the original ad. Payment is via PayPal

John
