68 Gibson EBO with Dark Star Pickups
One of a kind; beautiful nitro refin with ebony highlights

It has been admired everyplace it goes for its looks and sound. Look on http://www.basspickup.com/ (second from right, last full row). The Dark Stars are among the most responsive pickups Ive played. By varying touch, they can go from silky-smooth to snarly. They produce exceptionally even output though all parts of the range, from low to high. They never get lost in a mix.
This EBO came with a beat up finish and a sanded out headstock logo, but structurally strong no cracks or repairs and the neck and headstock are solid. It has been refinished in ambered nitro lacquer. The headstock has a macassar ebony laminate and the pickguard, back cover plate and trussrod cover were made from ebony as well. Finally, a pair of Dark Star pickups was installed.
The bass is in great physical condition for its age. It has been cared for lovingly but not kept as a hothouse flower too nice not to play it. The lacquer has a few edge dings and a very small dent or two. Nothing that youd feel or see unless you check carefully closeup. The neck is dead straight (trussrod adjusts fine) and is slim and ultra fast. The original Gibson frets have plenty of life left in them and no buzzes. The action is set low, even with low tension flats on it. You can pretty much set it up as youd like. The fretboard is in nice condition and was oiled back to a nice glow during the refin. The MOP dots are in great shape (no cracks or dullness) and still look great. There have been no repairs to the neck, headstock or neck joint. The 30 year old mahogany sounds really warm and woody.
Id very much rather not sell this bass, but I just paid for an Alembic Stanley Clarke Brown Bass and my wife insists on me thinning the herd.
