SOLD! Up for sale is a Squire Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz bass. Asking $220 plus shipping. PRICE DROP $200

This is a wonderful bass with a great tone. I tried six of these (owned two) until I found this one. What struck me about this one was the tone...very Jaco-esque, though is can be mellowed a great deal using the neck pickup and tone control. Also, and I found this on many Fenders, from the expensive American Fenders to the Squiers of all different types, it does not have the slight fretboard bend where the neck bolts to the body. It is very difficult to “tune up” a fretless neck when this is present, and this one is straight from top to bottom. I've replaced the stock strings with Fender 7250L's (.040 to .100) as I like a lighter string than the .45 to .100's it came with ( I like the strings low and a little clicky!). I included a photo of the back of the neck so you can see (if you look hard enough, it was tough to get the grain to show up in the pic) that the grain is well balanced from left to right.

I originally purchased this to be my substitute fretless while I did a makeover on my main bass, a home built fretless, and now that the project is done and my main ax is back up and running, it's time to let this one go.

Bass is in excellent shape, I haven't put a scratch on it. All pots are very smooth, no crackle, and the fretboard does show some light string marks (which would be true of any fretless) but no wear. Comes in a Squier box if shipped, 12.5lbs, 16 by 5 by 53 inches. If you want it double boxed, it will be 17.5 lbs, 21 by 9 by 54 inches.

Here a couple links so you can hear it.

these are pretty sweet for those of you who have not played one!

much better than I initially anticipated...was almost my first fretless until I was able to get a deal on a Lakland fretless....

IMHO...some of these are better than many of the MIM Fenders out there at much less cost!

Still available. PM's replied to. Thanks for the interest folks, and sorry for the few day delay in reply, I went on vacation, camping, with no internet access

Tinklawing3 you should start your own classified thread...not nice to jump on another's for sale thread. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen that before...:eyebrow:
