Selling a bass I bought over a year ago from Chef here at TalkBass. I'm pasting his original description below as it's more descriptive than I could come up with. It's been babied since I've owned it....just thinning out the herd a bit. It did get a set up a few months back and currently plays very well.
1993 G&L SB2,with non G&L brand case - $650 OBO
G&L are high quality basses, it's where Leo Fender and George Fullerton ended up after they left Fender, Leo started MusicMan, and then left them. G&L are all hand made in Fullerton California, this one predates the G&L buyout by BBE.
The bass itself is well played, with some wear, dings and checking in the finish. She's been a working bass, it shows, and I personally like that. Basses that don't play out well or don't sound good tend to be the ones that stay at home and stay looking pretty, in my experience.
Stock they come with volume/volume controls only, and no tone control. One is supposed to blend the two pickups together to get the tone you want. It works ok that way, but, tone control is nice to have.
So, this bass has the most common mod done to them, which is to replace one volume control with a stacked control, adding tone control to the bass.
Unlike many Precision type basses, the SB2 came with a Jazz width neck; 1 1/2" at the nut. Nice and easy to play. They typically retail for ~ $600-700; some folks would consider the tone control mod added value, some wouldn't. This one just had two high frets dressed at 7th position, and plays out very, very well. I *don't think* they used the back crinkle bridge and pickgurad for very long, but I'm not an expert in year to year variations of the SB2 line...
The G&L MFD Precision pickup is very high output, with deep lows and bright highs. The MFD Jazz pickup at the bridge is also hotter than a typical stock wind J pickup. It's an aggressive bass.
