For sale today are several inexpensive basses that, while functional (unless noted), are not getting the playing time they deserve. Each bass in this thread will sell for less than $300 + some agreement on shipping. As I am in NYC, all local sales are encouraged with a 5% discount (as long as I can get there on the subway/bus). While none of these are museum pieces, any them would make an excellent starter bass, mod platform, rough gig machine, or just a "That no name bass I purchased for $30 from that drug addict on Craigslist with a neck that looks like a smiley face is really starting to hold me back, but I can't afford my dream bass yet" bass.

1) Ibanez GSR 200: Perfect starter bass. Has a reversed P/J layout with V/V/T controls for pretty much all tone possibilities that a beginner could want. It also has the second thinnest neck I have ever played topped with a very nice sounding rosewood fretboard with no major fret wear. The electronics in this bass are surprisingly good, and I have gotten compliments about the tone this one puts out. It has also been autographed by Dave Ellefson of Megadeth. However, the signature has faded away by about 30%. If the buyer wants, it can easily come off. Will ship in/be delivered locally a cheap gig bag. It is in good condition only mild scratches on the back, and a missing truss rod cover. $150 Strung with Rotosound SB66s with about 75% of their life left. Weighs +-7lbs
2) Ibanez ATK300: Get the MusicMan sound on the cheap! These basses contain features that are usually only reserved for higher end basses like an active preamp, string through body construction, 3 band EQ, nicely figured 2 piece ash body, 5 bolt ultra-thin neck and the MusicMan style truss rod adjuster. Sounds like a slightly boomier Stingray with a bit more sustain thanks to its huge bridge. Like new condition except for some mostly erased sharpie marks near the EQ pots. Will ship in/be delivered locally a cheap gig bag. $250. Strung with D'Addario Pro Steels with about 50% of their life left. Weighs +-8.5 pounds SOLD!!!
3) Yamaha BB450: This is the one bass of mine that is currently non functional and therefore doesn't come with the return policy. It plays fine just as long as you never use the E string as the nut is broken. Has the tried and true P/J pickup layout with what seems to be 70s spacing. It also has a 60s style threaded bridge with adjustable string spacing. Besides the broken nut, I would say it is in pretty good condition. It has no buckle rash and only mild wear on the back. The one frontal flaw is a paint chip roughly 1.5x the size of a pencil eraser right in front of the bass coil of the P pickup. No case/gig bag included. $75. Strung with Elixers that are starting to get fuzzy. Weighs about 8.5 pounds. SOLD!!!
[DEL]4) (I reserve the right to pull this at any time) Squier Mike Dirnt Precision: This is an amazing instrument that is a shining star in the current Squier renaissance. It is by far my loudest passive bass, and even with nylons and a flatwound G, still requires me to turn down the volume. It also has a very thin neck that even I, someone who prefers a chunkier neck. It is in okay condition (the old string retainer screw head broke while screwed in, the back is a bit dented, two empty screwholes from a thumbrest mounted above the pickup, and the headstock is a bit dinged) and could probably use a good setup. In the pictures it shows the pickguard removed but it will be included (no screws though). $200. An absolute feather of a bass at 6.5 pounds.[/DEL] Came to my senses and took this off the market.
5) 1993 MIM Fender Jazz: Does exactly what a Jazz should: Everything. Not much about this one that hasn't been covered a million times before, but here are the basic facts. All stock, two pickups 20 great condition frets, rosewood fretboard, some really nice birdseye in the neck, straplocks. The back straplock fell out when I attempted to spin the bass (luckily I caught it with my left hand), and stripped the hole. When I attempted to re-screw it in a few mm below (to accommodate my very neck high style of playing), the screw became stripped. I will fix this before it leaves my hands. Comes with Fender gig bag. Recently set up with DR Black Beauties strings. $300. Weight unknown.
