I will not repeat the history behind it but simply point you to ASB-1 where Bruce Johnson maintains an excellent site about these unique and extremely rare instruments. Bruce is a leading expert on Ampeg basses, especially the scroll basses and he estimates less than 25 fretless devil basses to have been made. Including mine he is aware of 4 or 5 to be in circulation...
This AUSB-1 is in great condition for its age. All original with some gorgeous finish checking. The fingerboard is in perfect condition with no damage or wear what-so-ever. Back of the neck is also in great shape. Mystery pickup in place and operational. Most of the Ampegs from this era were apparently fitted with precision pickups etc but mine is all original down to the mute installed over the bridge.
Comes with non-original hardcase custom made for this bass. Literally brand new.
