1981 G&L L1000 CAR/Maple/OHSC

This is my nicest G&L. I'm at odds with parting with it, but, I just barely ever play 4 strings anymore.
I figure this to be the start of my 4 banger downsizing; all the rest will hurt less than this one;)

It was dead mint when I bought it, but, it shipped in a February cold snap, which weather checked the lacquer in the neck in a few places. The body is still quite nice, but shows a tad of player use, and polish/cleanup swirls. Bridge, control plate, and tuner chrome is all still in fine shape, including the knobs-which is kinda unusual, the knobs usually flake some. Strap buttons show some age. "Slot Pole" pickup; used 1981 only.

Weight is in the 9,5 range, I'll post exact weight later. It's not heavy or I wouldn't have it....

It's the most aggressive L1000 I've ever owned...much brighter and grindier, and I've had many.
Of course, you can roll treble off to calm that down.
As crazy as this sounds, I've never changed the strings, because they've held their snap, and I didn't want to mess with it's bright, snappy nature.

It doesn't have The Patented Gigantic Wide Load Low End of the mahogany/ebony L1000's I've had, but, in OMG mode (single coil/bass boost) I still always turn the bass way down. In fact, I always have the bass turned down in any of the coil tap positions. In other words, plenty of booty on tap, and it's still very much L1000 in this way.

1 11/16th's shallow C neck; best four string neck ever made, IMO.

100% original, including OHSC in equally nice condition.

Empathy Bump.

I am contemplating the same 4 string sellout and it's tough! For your sake I hope it is quick and painless.:bawl:

Sold my 81 L1K last year...I still think about it frequently.:bawl:

The buyer of this is going to be wearing a smile for a long time.

Wish I had the jingle to pull the trigger on this...

Even though I didn't care for the neck width, the sound was amazing out of an `81 L1000 I had.

I miss it so much. :bawl:
