For sale is my Rickenbacker 4004LK (Lemmy Kilmister) signature edition bass guitar. The serial number is 03-31019 and it is #21 of 60. I am the original owner.......I ordered it in '01 and received it in '05.
It is not a "case queen" as it was gigged on a regular basis since I received it. Due to its use there is some wear to the gold hardware. While this fine bass was used extensively it was always cared for meticulously and never mistreated or abused. The action is low and buzz free with no noticeable fret wear. Strings are D'Addario Chromes (flats) which is the type I've used since new. It has been tung oiled on a regular basis and stored in it's case when not in use.
The factory ABM bridge was changed to a Hipshot type 'A' and dual concentric pots were installed giving individual volume control for each of the three pickups and a master tone. The pickup toggle switch has been swapped for a simple on/off toggle "kill switch". This setup provides far more flexibility than the factory setup. Both the bridge and electronics changes required no permanent modification to the bass. It was very important to me when doing the mods that no extra holes were drilled and that it could be 100% returned to stock if desired. The original bridge and tone/volume knobs are included in the auction as well as all paperwork that I have, the Certificate of Authenticity, a matching Levys leather strap and a vintage silver tolex Rickenbacker hard case (the original was a standard SKB RIC case).
I'm motivated but not desperate to sell and I'm doing it with regret so I'll ask $7500 as a starting point (the selling prices on these are all over the place so I'm starting in about the middle of what I've seen 'em go for). Serious offers will absolutely be considered. Cash is preferred but cash + trade(s) is OK too. Ideally the trade would be something I could easily flip for the cash equivalent in the trade.....not that I certainly would but I'd like the option. I'm also not in a furious hurry so if you are interested and need a bit of time let me know....I'm actually pretty easy to work with.
Here are a few pics but if you want something specific just let me know.......
