For sale, reluctantly, is this bass. Note up front: this is an outstanding instrument, and there's nothing I don't like about it. My only motivation is the need for money for house repairs.

Creston Guitars is one guy, Creston Lea, who builds instruments by hand. You can check him out (and I recommend you do) at www.crestonguitars.com. You'll also see this bass featured on his site. It was originally built for Kevin White, who plays with Chuck Prophet and other roots/rock/country artists. I'm the second owner, and haven't had it very long.

Basic info: it's obviously a '51 style slab body, with a Lollar split pickup. Neck is a nice chunky traditional P Bass neck. Finish is '67 Jaguar (British Racing) Green. Super cool, one of a kind, and all the wear on it is authentic, from touring.

I'll provide any necessary details, so feel free to ask. More pics coming soon also. I'm offering it for sale for $1350 shipped. I realize Creston doesn't have the name recognition that some other builders do, but he probably should. This may not be as easy a sale as some due to that. But if you do your homework I think you'll agree that's a very fair price. Thanks for looking.

Artsy photo. By the way, I highly recommend checking out Creston's website if you're into cool small builders. He's got some amazing stuff, and obviously a great sense of humor and attitude as well.

Wish I could but I'm full up on basses and my carpal tunnel is bad enough that I can't really play right now so definitely shouldn't be buying anything... :hmm:

That is smoking. Can't afford another bass at the moment but it certainly gives me ideas for modding one that I already have.

Thanks guys. This is a really great bass - and I'm certainly willing to listen to offers. Not looking to make a profit here, only to free up cash for other pressing needs.

Feel free to bring me an offer. You won't be disappointed in this bass.

(Well, assuming you're someone who appreciates hand-crafted, way cool vintagey basses with uniquely awesome colors. You know, if you're into that kind of thing.)

Wow! I've been a fan of Creston since I learned about his stuff in Fretboard Journal, and I've drooled over this specific bass among others on his website. He makes the kind of instruments that I would make if I could make instruments, and I hope I have the opportunity to own one someday. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks - yes, I totally agree. I had been lusting after a Creston for a long time, but couldn't swing a custom order. And you NEVER see them on the used market, so I jumped on this when I found it. This is a rare opportunity to get a bass by a real craftsman at a good price. Really hate to sell it.
