Thanks Tim! It's my 1st six string and the move from 5 to 6 was easier than I thought it'd be. If I didn't need the $ for the new 5 I just bought I'd keep this one for sure.

Beautiful Gecko (as well as the playing & tone in the video!) - I've always considered having a Gecko made for me since Warmoth came out with the design. Yours in particular tonally soundspretty close to my 4 & 5-string Spector Euro Bolt-On DLX EX/"ZeBops" in terms of the punchiness that Zebrawood can bring to a Bass. I imagine your Zebrawood Neck trades off with the 7/8ths inch "top" of my Spectors, which is actually thicker as a "top" than the "back" of Alder. I have two other 5-string Spectors EBO DLX FMs with the "Figured Maple" tops opposed to Zebrawood with 1 the exact same modified Pickups and Preamps as my two EX "Exotic Tops" (Nordstrand "Big Singles" & Aguilar OBP-3s) and while the Flame Maple-topped have a "sweetness" to their overall tone (which is especially nice on my Fretless), the Zebrawood EXs replace that with sheer PUNCH!

One question, however: what size Gecko Body & Neck is yours? (...I'm guessing Medium?) As a Spector player you can tell I'm not a fan of wide fretboards, and I wish that Warmoth had some type of comparison chart so potential buyers could see the size relations between the Small, Medium & Large body and neck choices...

Thanks Ian, video isn’t the best but it I will say it was actually my first attempt ever recording just myself…felt kinda funny. Lots of video of my playing with bands but for whatever reason I’ve never videoed just me playing solo.

When I finally decided to search for my 1st 6string last fall I had a wish list of specs and Zebrawood was def on my list. I too owned a ZeBop (4 string) and I loved both the tone and looks. I regrettably sold the ZeBop to fund the purchase of a Stringray 5 but I def miss it. I bought mine at a local Sam Ash and now they don’t even carry Spector anymore.

I’d have to agree and say that the tonal characteristics of the Zebrawood in the Gecko def remind me of what I remember the ZeBop sounding like. Like you said I think the thinner top on the Gecko may be compensated by having a Zebrawood neck. What made me jump on this bass honestly is years ago I played a friends Ken Smith with a zebrawood body and ebony fingerboard and loved it. That combined with loving the tone of my ZeBop, when I found this Gecko on eBay I jumped on it. Considering the construction materials and quality of the build I feel like I got a good deal.

You may or may not have seen on the Warmoth site, they have small, medium and wide options for the 5 string bodies but only 1 size for 6 string. Same goes for their neck sizes, 3 options for 5 but only 1 for 6. So its hard to say if the 6 would be small/medium/wide. I can say the string spacing is 17mm so it def helps keeps it comfy if you aren't a fan of wide fingerboards.

For what its worth this is about all I could find on the Warmoth site in regards to neck/body size & shape.

BODY
This body features an extended upper horn for perfect balance with playing with a strap and a small lower horn to catch your thigh when playing seated. The deep heel-less extended neck joint gives superb access to all 24 frets. The neck bolts are laid out in an asymmetrical pattern for maximum stability and sustain, they are secured in the body with custom recessed steel washers.

NECK
The Gecko series bass necks feature an asymmetric back shape for a more comfortable, fast feeling. These necks "feel" thin, but retain sufficient bulk for strength and tone. The asymmetric back shape keeps perceived neck bulk down for maximum hand comfort and to create a thinner, fast feeling neck. The bass side of the neck is thicker, with the treble side being thinner. Your thumb will find easy reference as your hand glides up and down the neck. This is a very comfortable neck to play.

The asymmetrical contour of this wide neck makes playing more comfortable and allows full access to the two octave fingerboard. This neck features two truss rods to enable relief to be set independently on the bass and treble sides of the neck for optimum action and playability. The wide heel is attached with 6 bolts for superior stability and sonic coupling.
