I have a 2003 Ibanez SR506 bass that I'd like to give away to a child, or adult, in need! I've been wanting to do this for quite a while, and this morning I went to pay my tuition for the fall semester which I was thinking would be over $3,000 but ended up being only $465.36 due to federal aid and being awarded a presidential scholarship. All that to say, I don't have much, but I have been very blessed to this point in my young life, and I want to be a blessing to someone else!

I have had this listed for a while on my FB page, but the right person hasn't come along. I want this to go to a child or adult who wants to learn an instrument, but can't afford it. It will ship out in a gig bag. The bass won't win "prettiest in show," I just refinished it with tru-oil and the body has some scratches, but it functions perfectly, and sounds great. I'm going to buy some new strings to ship it with.

If y'all know of someone, please message me!

Thanks!

I love seeing threads like this, shows there's a lot of awesome people in the world. It's a great bass as well, if I knew someone who needed one I wouldn't hesitate to give them this bass.

Check out programs that give musical instruments to returning vets. That's what I'm doing at the moment. I've googled a few and contacted one place and they never responded, so they're probably not the right place. Have to keep looking.

If you do this and find a good resource, please let us know. Thanks.

Awesome. Just awesome. And a great bass, too! One day I'll be able to do the same.

Also, maybe try looking into a small local church. Sometimes they'll have bass players who aren't able to get their own instruments. Just a thought :)

Even tho this is awesome and generous thing to do, i think youll have better luck trying to find someone locally. That way youll actually get to meet the person and decide if they are the right person to give your bass to(and you could even get them started with a free lesson if you so choose)
Maybe post a craigslist add, newspaper add, or even go to a local school and ask if theyll let you hang a flier or something explaining about your giveaway

I just think it would be a more meaningful experience to the person who receives it (not to mention it will be alot easier to judge if the person is genuinely in need)

just the way i would do it if i was in your position
Anyway I wish you luck, hopefully you find someone that you feels deserves it.
