I had a Westone Pantera at one time, very nearly the same bass, one more pickup I believe, it was great sounding for a relatively inexpensive bass. The neck was painted black on the back and had a surprisingly slick feel.

It really is. The Magna pickup has a great slap tone and I am only a mediocre slapper. But this is a light, throaty and incredibly playable bass.
