Decided to keep this up for sale. Fender Custom SHop Custom Classic Jazz bass in pristine condition. I prefer a cash sale but possible trade for MIke Lull Jazz or Pedulla MVP or THunderbass. Can try me with others possibles.
This 2006 is so mint I’m calling it NOS. I bought it two years ago at an estate sale. The original owner bought a collection of high-end basses but NEVER played them. I’ve played this maybe two hours. Selling because, after several forays into active, I just prefer passive basses. Like new, with “Certificate of Authenticity,” OHSC (G&G), all case candy (sealed bag) and even the original plastic controls guides are still in place. Check the photos. IT has a quarter-sawn maple neck, modern C shape. Custom Noiseless pups, through-body string attachment.

This absolutely is like a new bass. These photos are of the actual bass.

Fender switched Nitrocellulose Lacquer to Urethane finish in early 2006. Fender specs say it's the urethane. weight is 9.5-9.6 lbs.

These sold new for about $2400, with MSRS at $2900. Price drop to $1850 plus shipping, CONUS. Here are the full specs for this bass from Fender.

I'm in the same boat as you... got one for sale now in classifieds in a sunburst, identical year, only I added the 60's Jazz Bass pickups to replace the "noiseless"... the thing plays like butter, with action like no MIA I've ever played... these are undervalued, but guys see the $2K price tag and think "I can get a new MIA Deluxe for $1800".. apples and oranges.

Good luck with the same... I'm patient to get a fair price on mine, not in a hurry.

THanks Sam J. I have only played a Deluxe in a music store and it was nowhere as well built as this. And you're so right about the action. I'm going to experiment more with the settings and If I get get the passive/vintage sound I prefer I may just keep this. It's not that heavy for a Fender and you are so right about the action. Very low and tight and it never goes out of tune.
It's like new now and I don't want to mark it , but heck, it's here and should be played.

Good luck with yours. I do love the sunburst, even more than the vintage white of mine.

well if it helps, on my Master Built, with the same pre-amp, I paid $300 or so and got the Sadowsky preamp installed and it made a WORLD of difference in tone, and has a passive by-pass.. I posted a sound clip on the bass forums if you search you can find it..

Eitherway GLWTS

I have one of those. Great bass, really. And I just happen to like the factory preamp.
Good luck.
