Details

This is a gorgeous unique and increasingly rare (discontinued some years ago) bass that I have enjoyed a great deal, but unfortunately money pressures (tax time among other things) means that it has to go up on the block.

This is a full hollow-body bass, modeled after the Tennessee Rose Gretsch guitars. It is made in Japan like other high end Gretsch products like the White Falcon, and the build quality is extremely high.

The weight is 8.0lbs as per my digital scale at home.

The bass is in great condition - the pictures really don't do it justice. There is one screw missing from the pickguard (looks like a standard pickguard screw). There are no nicks or dings anywhere that I can see - not on the body, not on the headstock, nowhere!

The treble side of the neck pocket has the characteristic set neck finish crack - a nice thin straight line, not even an inch - right at the seam between the neck and body pieces.

Here are some specs that I was able to find:

  • Body Style: Single cutaway hollowbody bass.
  • Sale Length: 30.3" (770mm).
  • Top: Arched laminated Maple.
  • Back and Sides: Laminated Maple body, 16" wide, 2.5" deep.
  • Neck: 3-piece Maple.
  • Pickups: 2 bass FilterTronTM pickups
  • Pickup Switching: 3-position toggle: Position 1. Bridge Pickup, Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups, Position 3. Neck Pickup.
  • Controls: Volume 1. (Neck Pickup), Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup), Master Volume, Master Tone.
  • Width at Nut: 1-11/16" (43mm).
  • Fretboard: Rosewood, 12" Radius (305mm).
  • Bridge: Adjustable 4-Saddle Bridge.
  • Tailpiece: Gretsch G-cutout tailpiece.
  • Hardware: Chrome-Plated.
  • Finish: Gloss urethane.
  • Case: Includes G6248 deluxe hardshell case
  • No of Frets: 22.
  • Machine Heads: Deluxe Chrome-Plated Die-cast Tuners.
  • Neo Classic "Thumbnail" Inlay Position Markers.
  • Black Headstock Overlay.
  • Bound Fingerboard.
  • Multiple Body Bindings.
  • Oversized Bound F-Holes.
  • Silver Plexi Pickguard.
  • Knurled Strap Retainer Knobs.
  • Adjustable Truss Rod.

It comes with a deluxe Gretsch hard-shelled case, which is also in flawless condition.

No trades on this one, sorry, I need the cash otherwise it wouldn't be up for sale. Asking $1150 USD shipped in North America, PayPal please (or EMT if in Canada). I'm open to shipping internationally as well, just PM me to discuss what the terms would look like.

PM with any questions.

Neck Dive?

I can't make out the color with your pics... is it black?

Nope, no significant neck dive, the fact that it is short scale seems to contribute to that.

It is a walnut stain over maple. Gorgeous dark colour. I need to get those better pics up. Here is a stock photo - this is NOT my bass, just an example of the same model - that should give you an idea of what it looks like in better light and shot by a better photographer.

I thought I had a sale last night, but it fell through, so I figured I'd drop the price to what I was going to accept - $1150 USD Paypal'd and shipped.

I've updated my original post with the weight and also mention of the finish crack at the neck. Photos can be provided of this if needed - just PM me.

Still hoping to get this out before tax time!

Almost had another deal done, but again it seems to have fallen through, so I'll bump this up again. Sure would love to have it gone in the next couple of days.

Love mine. It'd be one of the last basses that I'd ever sell. Gorgeous tone. Serious, serious old school vibe. And a head-turner extraordinaire :D.
