Details

I'm relisting this beautiful and very rare Ken Smith BMT5 with updated photos and info. Very few of these BMT models were made, maybe 150 or so of between 1993 and 1997. This one was born in 1997.

Features a 7 piece neck (maple and Bubinga stringers) and 7 piece body with mahogany core and walnut accents. Exhibition grade flamed maple top. Ebony fingerboard. Has original Smith hard shell case. Gold hardware and all original electronics. Standard 18mm spacing at the bridge.

It is in excellent condition for this vintage. A little bit of stain bleed right where the fretboard connects to the body which is very common to Smith basses. Maybe some tiny dimples/dings and swirl marks but nothing serious. In the pics below I tried to point out a couple examples of tiny little imperfections but they are hard to photograph. Little flaking on a couple of tuners. It is a used bass and I may have missed something but it is really fantastic and especially so considering it's vintage. It is very nice with the super low action you get with Smith basses.

Original case has a few scuffs but is in overall good condition.

These are absolute works of art and sound fantastic. A killer instrument and a real collector's piece. 7 piece body and neck! Not totally sure I want to let this one go but I'm looking to trade for a Pre-Gibson Tobias 5 or possibly a MTD 534. I might be interested in something else like a Sadowsky NYC, Roscoe, and Dingwall Super J etc, but let me know what you've got. I'm a sucker for walnut so if you have a Ken Smith Elite in walnut I'm interested.
Price drop: $4000 shipped CONUS.

Thanks

How about a 2014 Spector Forte 5 Helium with Hipshot Ultralite tuners and active/passive Aguilar OBP-2 and Aguilar soapbars?

Yowza! That whole bass is pretty, but where all that wood seamlessly meets at the neck joint is something I just sat and stared at for a minute. Those guys really do amazing things with trees. GLWTS!
