A year or so ago, I bought a 1/4 size Kay to rent to a student. I have several other 1/4 size basses and this one actually never went out.

I am into this bass for $800. I bought it for $300, and I spent $500 to have my local luthier extra-ordinaire, Jay Vande Kopple, work on it, and it needed a lot of work. Adjustable bridge, new strings that have hardly been played, bag case. It's still not perfect, of course, but it plays easily and it sounds great.

I would like to get what I've got in this but I will entertain offers. I'm located in Ridgewood, NJ, and bringing the bass to NYC is an option.

Silly question. How large is it. I need to know precisely how portable a quarter might be, as an acoustic group that I play with requires a relatively small footprint.

Tell me what you'd like me to measure and I will - I don't think I've ever measured a bass before other than scale length - width of lower bout at widest point? Height with no peg showing? Front to back depth of lower bout at its largest?

Lower bout is 22-1/4" wide at widest point.

Lower bout is 7-1/4" deep at deepest.

Measure from back of bass (tape measure on bottom of lower bout) to top of scroll: 61-3/4"

3-1/4" of peg stuff sticking out of the bottom of the bass when the peg is all the way in.

The space is there, but actually maneuvering it into that space isn't possible, as the car doors don't open wide enough to be able to get it into position. :(

And not like a January 1 through March 31, inclusive, kind of quarter.

Rather, a quarter-size bass.

And a 1/4 size bass can be shipped in 1/4 of the shipping container of a 4/4, and half that of a 3/4.

Wait, that's not how that works, is it?
